Fluids are necessary for humans to live on planet earth, just like virtually every other living thing on the third rock from the sun. Just as humans require water, modern vehicles of today's age require several unique types of fluid, all of which must be present to have a functioning and safe vehicle.

Motor oil is mandatory for getting out of your driveway, or anywhere else for that matter. It’s located in the engine, and can only be extracted by pulling the oil plug on the bottom of your vehicle. Check it weekly if you would like to stay on the safe side, and also be sure to change it every three to six months, or an average of 5,000 miles or so.

Transmission fluid makes it possible to change gears when you step on the gas pedal and accelerate. Pull out the small dipstick under your car’s hood to test it. You could also smell this oil – if it’s burnt-smelling, quickly replace it at a certified service center, just like the one here at Land Rover Southwest Houston!

If you don’t know how to change any of the many important fluids in your Land Rover SUV, let us at Land Rover Southwest Houston take care of it for you.
